I have done this relaxation technique before and I have found it to be one of the most relaxing feelings ever. I think that this exercise makes you feel not only physically relaxed but also mentally. The one thing that I focused on more this time then the last time that I did was how I felt after I did the exercise; I was so relaxed and really focused on my body and mind then I was before I did the exercise. I remember when I did this exercise for a previous class that I should do this all the time to get this same feeling and yet this is only the second time that I have done it. So I guess that I am still stuck in the main stream of conventional thinking and not letting myself dedicate the time (which is a poor excuse) and change my ways to allow myself to do this exercise to feel so positive and relaxed within and out (mentally and physically).

Melissa,
ReplyDeleteI have had similar experiences with this exercise. I have completed it multiple times, though not enough. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the daily hustle and bustle. One thing that I really appreciate about this exercise is that the relaxation is not tiredness. I actually feel refreshed and energized. Hopefully this course will help us both break free of the convential thinking and encourage us to dedicate a little time for ourselves on a regular basis!
I had the opposite feeling when I completed the meditation exercise. I felt so tired and drained. I know that this also happens when I meditate after a yoga class. The last thing I want to do it get off of the mat and drive home. I am usually so comfortable and relaxed that I could just fall into a deep sleep.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that this course will make me find time for me. I think meditation is great for both the mind and body. I know that it will take me a couple of days or even a few weeks to allow myself to fully meditate. I find that my mind is always going, and it is difficult for me to 'shut it off'.
Hello Melissa nice to see you again in another class. I was able to feel the heaviness in my parts of my body but I did not feel the heat from my blood entering the differant body parts. I have done other relaxation meditation exercises, however I have never done this one with mental imagery changing the blood pressure and flow in the body parts. I think this one will take me many times to get this one to work for me. Keep up the good work and remember to smile and laugh!
ReplyDeleteHello Melissa very nuce blog it is very similar to mine nice picture as well. Its also really nice to be participating in the same class again best of luck to you CK.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa I think you hit the nail on the head. It is about allowing ourselves the time. I hope to be able to do this again, and again, but who knows. I really enjoyed the feeling I had afterwards and think it can be a great benefit to me when I'm having a hectic day.
ReplyDeleteI tried, but couldn't get over the how I didn't like this guy's voice.. I just didn't trust him, ( sounded like a side show act to me) and his asking me to feel the blood move and vessels dilate was disturbing to me.. I just can't relax with someone telling me to.. I have to visualize my own thing and relax.. I'm glad that others found it relaxing, but for me, I'll stick to my visual aids and my imagination!!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that this guys voice is what gets me so relaxed. There is just something about it. In my stress class last term there was a great guided imagery about being on a mountain and smelling the pine and it was this guys voice and I swear I pictured myself in the poconos smelling the pine and hearing birds. His voice just puts me in a trance. lol I think that is why I enjoy these so much!! If you just wanted to even try meditating or concentrating on sounds I love this video I found on you tube it just gets me relaxed!

I have done this exercise many times as well. I have found it very beneficial to do right before I go to sleep at night. Great post and love your picture. It is nice to put a face with the personality and name.
ReplyDeleteHello Melissa,
ReplyDeleteI love the feeling this exercise gives me. It is so relaxing and refreshing. It is like those dreams when you are falling, but you are in control this time. I also love the idea that it is only 15 minutes. You can fit it into your life easily at any time.
Wishing you the best.
